I created an Instagram account using my email. I had to download the application to my phone so that it could work. Basically, Instagram is a social network used to share photos and videos. I could use it for quick updates of library or classroom activities if the school allowed me to have my phone on hand or I could just wait until after school to upload. I didn’t like that I couldn’t upload pictures through my computer. I would use Instagram to send a quick reminder on updates for students and parents of upcoming events or projects that are due and such.
not bad for a newbie!
Flipagram/Vigo Video
This is another app that needs to be downloaded on your Android or iPhone devices. It’s used to make short videos and photo slideshow and share it with others. Honestly, this is the first I hear of Flipagram, but it’s pretty fun to play around with. I’d like to show my student how to use this app, so they can create short presentations on books they've read and share with their classmates by either acting it out or talking about them. Got carried away with this app, and although it is time-consuming, I think my students would really enjoy using it as well. It even gives you the option to share directly to Instagram.
Of the three programs, my favorite is the Screencast-O-Matic. Students love to create videos and this program allows a fun, unique approach to digital storytelling. Plus, it’s an easy way to create tutorials for not only students but teachers as well.
I really liked and saw the potential of screencasts as well. Such a great resource to teach how to's on the computer. Especially for those who started school late or need extra time to process. Your flipagram is super cute. I hadn't played with it before either, but I enjoyed putting together a video for the students as well.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was also Screencast-O-Matic. I thought your idea of digital storytelling is great! I was also unfamiliar with Flipagram. I think it's a good app for students to use to do 30 second book chats.
ReplyDeleteThe use of Screencast-O-Matic is endless. It is a great tool to use for a quick lessons, to give instruction, or even use as part of a class or individual project. It was my favorite as well.
